How To Apply

"This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to serve as a Development Intern at The Production Farm, a nonprofit focused on behavioral and mental health for youth and families. With it being my first professional internship, I learned so much—about myself, nonprofit operations, and the real-world impact of mental health initiatives.

My tasks included updating and tracking data, grant writing, reaching out to stakeholders, and even helping to develop a pilot program for mental health in schools. I also gained insight into the gaps in healthcare and the unique challenges Wisconsin faces in health policy, which aligned closely with my academic work.

What stood out most to me was being part of an organization that is so deeply embedded in its community. Helping plan a new mental health program for children was one of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had, and it showed me just how impactful this work can be.

While I had initially considered an internship in government, this role opened my eyes to the critical role nonprofits play in addressing policy and community issues. It was a unique experience that clarified my career goals and strengthened my passion for serving others.

I would recommend this internship to anyone who wants a hands-on experience in meaningful work. The mentorship I received, the skills I gained, and the connection to a mission I truly believed in made it an unforgettable summer."
